Privacy Policy
HeartSave Africa is a life-critical emergency response platform. Your privacy and the security of your personal and health data are foundational to how we operate. This Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
1. Information we collect
We collect information necessary to operate the emergency response system:
Identity & contact: Name, phone number, email, and account details
Health profile: Blood group, medical conditions, and emergency contacts you choose to provide
Location data: Real-time GPS location when an emergency is activated
Responder credentials: Certification level (BLS, ACLS) and reliability record, for registered responders
Incident data: Emergency reports, dispatch records, AED usage logs, and response outcomes
Usage & device data: App interactions, device type, OS, and error reports
2. How we use your information
Activate and coordinate emergency responses in real time
Locate the nearest AEDs, responders, and available hospital beds
Dispatch ambulances and support hospital routing
Provide CPR and AED guidance during emergencies
Maintain and monitor AED device readiness
Generate anonymized analytics to improve system performance and inform public health policy
Communicate critical updates to registered responders and system users
Ensure compliance with Ghana's legal and regulatory obligations
3. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. Information is shared only as follows:
Emergency responders & dispatch: Location and health profile shared in real time to support emergency response
Hospitals & ambulance services: Incident data and patient routing information shared to facilitate care
Government partners: Aggregated, anonymized data shared with MoH, GHS, and the National Ambulance Service for system oversight and planning
Service providers: Cloud infrastructure, analytics, and technical support partners, under strict data agreements
Legal authorities: When required by Ghanaian law or to protect life
4. Data security
HeartSave Africa applies industry-standard encryption, secure authentication (OTP and biometrics), role-based access controls, and continuous monitoring to protect your data. All systems are designed to meet Ghana's Data Protection Act requirements. Given the life-critical nature of this platform, security is treated as non-negotiable infrastructure — not an optional feature.
5. Your rights & choices
Health profile: You control what health information you share — it is optional but supports better emergency care
Account management: Update or delete your account at any time through the app
Communications: Opt out of non-emergency notifications
Data access: Request a copy of your personal data held by us
Note: Location sharing cannot be disabled during an active emergency activation, as it is essential for dispatching help to you.
6. Children's privacy
HeartSave Africa does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Emergency activations involving minors are handled through the profile of the reporting adult. If we discover personal data has been inadvertently collected from a child, we will delete it promptly.
7. Policy updates
We may update this Policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification with the updated effective date. Continued use of HeartSave Africa constitutes acceptance of the current Policy.
